Geofabrics® Geomesh™ Gabion is a modular wire mesh system, designed to create a vertical gabion rock-face finish retaining wall.
It is constructed from a double-twisted wire mesh panel and gabion with a durable polymer coating and can be combined with geogrid reinforcement. Designed for building rock-faced Mechanically Stabilised Earth (MSE) walls with either vertical or stepped facings in excess of 50 metres in height.
The gabion MSE system is assembled and filled using stones or rocks, while compacted structural backfill is placed over the extended soil reinforcement layers to form a stable and reinforced retaining wall structure.
The MSE system is ideally suited for a wide range of infrastructure projects including roadworks, rail corridors and mining operations.

INSTALLING THE GEOMESH GABION SYSTEM
Installation time can be reduced by up to 50 percent using our specialised tools available for hire, such as pneumatic lacing tools. Additional accessories such as ‘C’ rings and lacing wire can also be purchased to make gabion wall installation easier.

FUNCTION
Reinforcement
Geosynthetics provides additional strength to soils and aggregate. Used to reinforce steep slopes, and to stabilise road or rail construction over weak and variable soils. Enables embankments to be constructed over very soft foundations and to build slopes at steeper angles than would be possible with unreinforced soil. Geosynthetics (or geogrids) are also used to bridge over voids that may develop below load bearing granular layers (roads and railways) or below cover systems in landfill applications.
Retaining
Geosynthetic or geogrid acts to support soil laterally so that the structure can be retained at different levels on the two sides. Retain (holds back) any material (usually earth) and prevents it from sliding or eroding away. Gravity retaining and reinforced soil retaining walls are designed to resist the material pressure of the material that it is holding back.
