Geosynthetics in Agricultural Applications

The use of geosynthetics in agricultural applications is growing, with increasing regulations governing the containment and disposal of pesticides, fungicides and insecticides; the conservation and protection of water; and the effects of climate change in the form of extreme weather events like drought, heat-waves, and insect infestations.

Geosynthetics improve efficiency and performance by playing a key role in:

  • Channel and pond lining to prevent water seepage loss
  • Water surface and groundwater protection from contamination and pollution created by animal waste lagoons
  • Water conveyance to preserve and transport clean water for agricultural use
  • Waste management liners and capping
  • Blankets to help shelter plants from wind, hail and other damage from erosion
  • Stabilising unsealed access roads for heavy equipment and machinery
